We are a group of ride-share drivers and riders attempting to stop Aaron Ford from undermining ride-share in Nevada. Since his ascension to the position of Nevada Senate Majority Leader, Aaron Ford has attempted to undermine ride-share drivers and degrade the level of service ride-share drivers provide.

Senate Bill 226 was just the first bill that Aaron Ford promulgated that began the legislative attack on ride-share drivers.

AB 445 is an insurance bill that calls for 1000$ fines for rideshare drivers that cancel or refuse rides.

AB 487 gives  Las Vegas taxi companies regulatory oversight of rideshare through the expansion of the Taxicab Authority's jurisdiction.

Why SB 226 is bad for ride-share (Uber / Lyft) drivers...
First and foremost, it is a tax, has no other purpose but to be a tax and enable the assessment of additional taxes and fees on ride-share drivers.

Second, it creates a data base of drivers that the state, counties and cities may use any way they choose. Business registrations are also public access meaning anyone can easily obtain ride-share driver info.

Third, it is an additional and unnecessary regulation restricting entry level entrepreneurs in the State of Nevada. Ride-share drivers are doing great things in Nevada. They are creating positive change in the community, giving people a discount on transportation, cutting down on inefficiencies, reducing corruption, reducing crime, reducing unemployment, reducing DUI fatalities, lowering personal debt and making everyone much safer. Additional unnecessary regulations have great potential to undermine those aspects of ride-share in Nevada that give it the edge over competition and have made ride-share such a positive development in the State.

Fourth, it puts ride-share drivers squarely in the "Not Employee" category. Undermines drivers standing in any future legal proceedings and negates many rights drivers need and deserve.

Fifth, there is nothing in SB 226 for ride-share drivers, they get nothing out of this bill except a betrayal by our elected officials. Senate Majority Leader Aaron Ford did not even attempt to make this bill fair and balanced. No consultation with drivers, no regard whatsoever for 61,000 ride-share drivers in Nevada. This bill is a blatant attack on ride-share drivers by the Nevada State Legislature, led by Aaron Ford.

Finally, it will not reduce the number of drivers on the road. Many drivers supported this bill because they believed it would benefit them financially. SB 226 was not designed to do that. The part time drivers will get an exemption and those driving ride-share full time will just take one pay cut, after another in the form of increased fees and taxes.
